The Dalai Lama in Britain July 1996, a set on Flickr.
Still finding some gems during my clean up. It was a great joy to see him, and I sponsored some prayer flags for this event, which they very kindly sent to me, also found those too. One of the interesting things is that the Tibetan Peace Garden is next door to the Imperial War Museum, outside the museum are these massive battleship cannons facing out over the Thames – reminder that once Britiannia Ruled the Waves, and now can just about handle the River Thames. Anyway before I ramble on (suddenly got Led Zep in my head), the Peace Gardens are perfectly placed being a neighbour of the Imperial War Museum.
These are photos of the HH Dalai Lama’s visit to the UK – ‘Peace in Action’ Tour. These photos were taken at the Ceremonial Opening of the Peace Gardens in Lambeth – just next door to the Imperial War Museum July 16th -20th 1996
