It really was a fun exhibition with painted cows all over the City.

The invasion of cows arrived in Lima – translated from ‘El Comercio’ Lima Peru

If for some strange reason you ever imagined seeing a pink cow, standing in front of Government House, this is your chance.

Ekeko Cow was designed, built and painted by artist Ivonne Lima and is one of the fiberglass cows that have invaded our capital as part of the “Cow Parade”.

This huge urban art exhibition, held since 1999 around the world, was brought into the country by the advertising company and Gigantografías Hurdles Group inaugurated yesterday in the Cercado de Lima.

Eighty sculptures, designed by politicians, artists and national characters of the show will be exhibited for three months in the park and the passage Saenz Pena Chabuca Granda, in Barranco, the Plaza de Armas and the passage Scribes in the Holding; parks Salazar , Love, Raimondi and Kennedy in Miraflores, the Free People’s Central Park and the Jockey Plaza shopping center in Surco.

“In February, when the shows end, 64 cows will be auctioned to raise funds for the Centro Ann Sullivan del Peru, Lima Foundation and the NGO Partners in Health, while the remaining 16 will be given to companies that sponsored the event,” said general manager and group Gigantografías Vallas, Gerardo Manghi.

Among those who agreed to design, build and paint one of these peculiar cows stand Gian Marco, Dina Paucar, Damaris, Carlos Galdos, Pochi Marambio, Raul Romero, Bruno Pinasco, Mauritius Fernandini, Marcelo Wong, Eduardo Tokeshi, Aldo Shiroma, Jose Antonio Morales, Jose Miguel Valdivia, Carlos Revilla.

Even the city’s mayor, Luis Castaneda, who opened the exhibition yesterday were encouraged to create his sculpture, installed in the Plaza de Armas. The cow, named Lima Linda, his body displayed in drawings of some of the works that the council of Lima in the city running, and a large sign reading “Thanks for letting us work”.
