The statement from Herr Himmler of the RSPB (The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds – believe it or not) is kind of chilling;

“The white headed duck is one of the most endangered in Europe and the threat to it from the ruddy duck remains. We need to get to a position where there is no longer a threat. Otherwise, in 20 years’ time we could risk being in the same situation because we failed to see it through to the best conclusion.”

So what exactly is this terrible threat..are the Ruddy Ducks eating the eggs or bullying the White headed ducks? Answer NO, what they are doing is inter-breeding with each other so you get a hybrid white-headed-mixed-race-ruddy-duck.

Now, I’m just curious that if this threat to the purity of the Duck race is so terrible – can’t they just clip the wings of the Ruddy Ducks to prevent them winging their way over to Spain and shagging the White Headed Spanish frigging Ducks instead of  this type of ‘ethnic cleansing’ ie. massacre??

Luckily the USA stands ready to deal with this threat;

Some have argued that confronting the threat from the Ruddy Ducks could detract from the war against terror. To the contrary, confronting the threat posed by Ruddy Ducks is crucial to winning the war on terror.

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.
